St Bartholomew’s church has a ring of 6 bells, with the earliest dating from 1757. The tenor weighs 23cwt-2qtrs-26lbs.
The bells are rung for Sunday morning services, 09:20 – 10:00; for weddings and other special events. Practice takes place on Wednesday evenings from 7:45 – 9:00pm, except the first Wednesday of the month.
St Bartholomew’s is affiliated to the Chippenham Branch of the Gloucester and Bristol Diocesan Association of Ringers, which is itself affiliated to the Central Council of Churchbell Ringers. Its mission is to further the art of church bell ringing.
We have friendly and active band and cater for all ringing abilities. Ringing is a marvellous hobby, for both men and women, from 14 – 90. If you are interested in learning more about this ancient English custom please contact us on the number below.
