Weddings, Banns, Baptisms and Funerals
Congratulations! We are delighted that you are considering getting married in church, so have a look at our Marriage Information Pack which tells you just about everything you might need to know about what’s involved, how much it costs, and what you need to do next.
You might think you can’t get married in church, but there are very few cases where it’s not possible. If you can prove or establish a connection with one of our churches we should be able to help you. We’d love to talk to you about the possibilities.
Finally, yourchurchwedding.org has all sorts of useful information to help you plan your ceremony.
If you are getting married in another church and need us to call your banns, please see ‘Getting in Touch’ below.
Baptism (known by many as ‘Christening’) is a symbol of entry into the Church and involves (for young children) parents making promises before God to bring a child up in the Christian lifestyle. Some people prefer to opt for a simple Thanksgiving service where we say a prayer of thanks to God for the birth of a child.
In Corsham we have a series of ‘baptism events’ throughout the year where a number of families share in the baptism ceremony. These are usually held on a Sunday lunchtime, allowing you to have a family celebration elsewhere afterwards.
In Neston, Lacock and Gastard we would normally aim to include a baptism in one of our main Sunday morning Family Services.
Getting in touch
If you would like to discuss the possibility of arranging weddings or baptisms in any of the churches in our team (or you are getting married somewhere else and need us to call your banns) please contact the team administrator, Ted Davies, in the first instance at firstname.lastname@example.org. Alternatively, please call in to or phone Church House between the following times:
Wednesday 10.00–12.30pm and 2.00–4.00pm
Phone: (01249) 701720 – answerphone outside these hours.
All of our churches are available for funeral services and our clergy team are available to officiate for funerals, for cremations at local crematoria, and for burials of ashes.
The churchyards at Neston and Bowden Hill are available for burials of those who lived in those parishes, whilst burials for Corsham, Gastard and Lacock take place in local cemeteries. It is possible for cremated ashes to be interred in the grounds of all our churches, for people who lived in those parishes. Local arrangements vary and our clergy team will be happy to discuss this with you.
Funerals are normally arranged with us via your funeral director who will co-ordinate all the arrangements with you.
