We would like to take this opportunity to tell you about some of the services specifically for children and their families that take place within our team:
Early Bird Service. This takes place on the 2nd Sunday of each month at 9am in St. Bart’s, Corsham, (except August when the Early Bird is on holiday, and November when it is a week earlier – really Early Bird! (because of the Remembrance Day service). This is a short 25 minute service with breakfast served in Church House afterwards. Crammed with songs and stories, it is an informal, dynamic, interactive service – ideal for the youngest members of our congregation.
For more information about the service at Corsham, contact Georgina Storey – 01249 712964 or Revd Adam Beaumont.
‘Jump Start Sunday’ at Neston
Specially designed for younger families, this runs for about 45 minutes in Neston on the first Sunday of the month at 9am. Over a breakfast of croissants and toast we share a story, a song or two, and try not to get too much jam on the craft activities. Get there early for a good table! For more information contact Revd Adam Beaumont
Family Service. This takes place each month on the 3rd Sunday in Neston at 10am (together with the Gastard Congregation) and Lacock at 10.30am, and on the 4th Sunday in Corsham at 10am . The services are about 45 minutes long with hymns, songs and a talk designed specifically with the children in mind. An activity for the children is usually provided to support the theme of the service.
Messy Church. Messy Church is for families, involving fun and crafts, and is found across the world. Its values are about being Christ-centred, for all ages, based on creativity, hospitality and celebration. Messy Church takes place on the First Friday of every month (except December when it moves to the 2nd Sunday because of the Town Christmas Lights Switch On) from 3.30pm to 6pm in Church House, 3 Church Street, Corsham. It starts with themed crafts, followed by a short bible reading and song, and finishes with a meal.
Messy Church is for all ages, and children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Lacock Family Service
Lacock Family service, which takes place on the 3rd Sunday of the month is an informal service, often without any liturgy, which is designed to be appropriate for all ages. Each week we aim to have a combination of music from traditional hymns and a live worship group. Rather than a set talk the teaching tends to be spread through the service, is more interactive and seeks to directly engage the children and young people as well as adults. The children also often take an active roll in the service.
This complements the Junior and Youth Church groups which meet during the rest of the month and cover ages from 4 to 16.
While children are very much welcome in all our services if parents do wish to spend some time out of the service with those under 4 we also have a room upstairs in the Church itself with toys where the service is also relayed by loudspeaker.”
Young Barts (Corsham Sunday School). Meets in Church House at 9.45am on all Sundays except the 4th Sunday, when we join with the Family service in church. This lasts about an hour, after which the children come to join the congregation in church for the last part of the main 10am service. Children from age 3 are most welcome to join in with songs, bible stories and craft activities.
A new event for 7-11 year olds will be held at Neston Church on the 3rd Sunday of each month, starting on 17 Apr, from 4.30pm – 6pm. For more information contact Revd Adam Beaumont
