For a thousand years there has been a place of worship on the site of Corsham church. Over the centuries, there have been bits added on, sometimes bits taken away and many repairs. There is a constant need for repairs.
The present tower and spire were added in the final phase of alterations to the church when our Victorian predecessors commissioned Mr George E. Street to recommend a programme of works. The building at that time was in a perilous state but survived thanks to the zeal and devotion of our forebears.
The first element of our restoration was concerned with the Spire and over the last 6 years we have raised over £250,000 to make the tower and bells safe and the spire waterproof. A Short History of Restoration 2012 has been put together by Nigel Jackson and is available to view download in. pdf form by clicking the highlighted text above. a full off-line archive of pictures is held by the parish.
We have also been able to install a Tea Station and toilet within the church.

On Sale in Church
We offer various souvenirs, including greetings cards, pens and pencils which can be bought. We have also published four books: “Inspired Verse”, a selection of favourite poems; “Inspired Food”, a collection of our favourite recipes; “Our Prayers”, a book of prayers written by members of the congregation and used in services and “Parish Poems”, written by members of the church and the community we serve.
More recently we have added prints of paintings by members of the church, jars of sweeties and St Bart’s Teddy Bears as well as a number of prayer cards. You might be interested to know that the large collecting box at the back of the church was made of wood from the pews that were removed from the back of the church. We are very grateful to the clever carpenter who gave his talents freely to provide this splendid and beautiful example of recycling.
