The Corsham WW1 Memorial Woodland at Hartham Park

Following yesterday’s Remembrance Day services across the county, and as part of Wiltshire’s centenary commemorations for the end of the First World War, Hartham Park are honoured to be supporting a wide-scale community tree planting project.

More than 10,000 trees are being planted across Wiltshire as a lasting tribute to all to our fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives in World War One, with the initiative being coordinated by Wiltshire Council and kindly supported by the Woodland Trust.

For the town of Corsham, 121 named servicemen are to be remembered with the planting of ‘The Corsham WW1 Memorial Woodland at Hartham Park’. Set within the 50 acre grounds of the Mansion House estate, the woodland will be beautifully landscaped with benches and glade openings to integrate the spectacular views.

Jeff Thomas, owner of Hartham Park said: “As a resident of Corsham for over 20 years, I am incredibly passionate about supporting the local community.

Inspiring future generations to learn of our history and then prosper with education and business is why I am personally invested in a number of companies and charitable organisations that are helping to drive that.

Hartham Park is a thriving business community with a number of exciting developments in the pipeline. Whilst we already welcome members of the public to enjoy a selection of the unique facilities here including The Café, Virtual Reality Cave and our historic stické tennis court; one of only three remaining in the world, creating this special woodland will serve as a wonderful focal point for the people of Corsham and beyond.

Visitors will be able to come and enjoy our spectacular grounds, pay respects to our fallen heroes, learn about the historic events of WW1, and be inspired to make their own history!”

Set to open in Summer 2019 to coincide with the 100th anniversary of when the National Day of Peace was declared, a momentous event is currently being planned that will involve the local community and schools.

Further details about the project will be shared in the New Year, and any enquiries in the meantime can be directed to Chloe Swift, Marketing Manager for Hartham Park on cswift@harthampark.com.
