Services for Children and Families

We would like to take this opportunity to tell you about some of the services specifically for children and their families that take place within our team:

Early Bird Service at St. Bartholomew’s. A short 25 minute service which is held on the second Sunday of every month at 9:00am (except August when the Early Bird is on holiday, and November when it is a week earlier – really Early Bird!) with breakfast served in Church House afterwards.  Crammed with songs and stories, it is an informal, dynamic, interactive service – ideal for the youngest members of our congregation.

For more information about the service at Corsham, contact Revd Adam Beaumont.

This informal service for all the family will take place  every second Sunday of the month (from Sep 19) at 9.00am, and consists of a short service in church followed by a light breakfast in the church vestibule, and the opportunity to contribute to the beginning of the 10.00am service in church, which is either Morning Worship or Holy Communion depending on the availability of clergy.

FAMILY SERVICES.A slightly longer 45 minute service which is designed for all ages with hymns, songs and a talk.

  • At St. Bartholomew’s on the 4th Sunday of every month at 10.00am.
  • At St. Cyriac’s on the 3rd Sunday of every month at 10.30am
  • At St. Philip and St. James’, Neston on the 3rd Sunday of every month at 4pm.

These services provide various ways of worship and teachings and may incorporate mini-plays, films and different types of music.

Messy Church.
An informal service for children and their parents/carers to enjoy together which is now held on the second Friday of the month (Jan 18 onwards) from 3.30pm – 6.00pm in Church House, Corsham (second Friday in December, due to the Town Christmas Lights Switch On).  It starts with themed crafts, followed by a short bible reading and song and ending with a meal.  A fun, social service for those wishing to worship on a weekday.

Messy Church is for all ages, and children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Heart4Rudloe.  This is a fun community church run by our neighbouring parish, St. Thomas a Becket Church, Box, which meets every other Sunday from 4.00pm to 6.00pm in Crumpets Cafe on Portal Avenue, Rudloe.  Everyone of any age is welcome – children must bring an adult.  Please see the Heart4Rudloe Facebook page for dates and more information.

For slightly older children

Young Barts (Corsham Sunday School).  Meets in Church House at 9.45am on all Sundays except the 4th Sunday, when we join with the Family service in church.  This lasts about an hour, after which the children come to join the congregation in church for the last part of the main 10am service.  Children from age 3 are most welcome to join in with songs, bible stories and craft activities. (Read more here)

Church Lads and Church Girls Brigade. If your child is of school age, they are most welcome to join the youth uniformed organisation of the Church of England.  This is held in Church House and The Corsham School gym on alternate weeks on Wednesdays during term-time, starting at 6.30pm for Reception to Y5 children and 7.45pm for Y6 upwards. Read more about the Brigade here

We also have special services to mark not only the main Christian festivals of Easter Day and Christmas but also Mothering Sunday and Harvest Festival for example, details of which will be emailed to you periodically.

We hope there is something here that you and your family will enjoy attending.
